stockholm raincoat

Swedish designer Alexander Stutterheim founded his namesake line after noticing a conspicuous lack of good rain-specific designs on the market. His vision was refined after discovering his late grandfather’s old raincoat, discarded in an abandoned barn. Flooded with memories of rainy fishing trips with his grandfather and struck by the coat’s lasting relevance and practicality, he began to imagine an updated, contemporary version. Based on the traditional 1960’s raincoat worn by generations of Swedish fishermen, the coats feature matte finish oil skin, snap closures, double welded, taped seams and full lining for breathability. Making a point to manufacture in Sweden, Stufferheim uses Sweden’s last standing textile factory in Borås where the handmade coats are individually numbered and signed by the seamstress who made them. Stutterheim brings a necessary update to a market eclipsed by the sportswear industry, as well as a beautiful, understated addition to our wardrobes in bad weather.
