Brooke Winfrey stumbled upon ceramics after taking a course at Hunter College just for credits. Now a full fledged ceramic artist, Brooke produces unique clay creations under the moniker btw ceramics at her Brooklyn studio. Each piece is individually crafted using a combination of hand building and throwing on the wheel. Brooke's aesthetic has a human touch with each piece being fairly irregular. The lines are drawn on, the edges are raw, and the throwing marks made by her fingers are left along the inner sides. Similarly her finishes are variegated, cracked, and wobbly, adding personality and whim. In balance, there is a refinement to Brooke’s work. Her forms are simple, restrained.
