At the beginning of 2009, Japanese-born, New York-based friends Kanoko Mizuo and Tomoyo Kamio started collaborating on a private hair salon they decided to fill with things they liked. Using only all-natural fragrances, pure essential oils, and cotton wicks, they turned their attention to botanical-based burners. But unlike others on the eco scene, the duo’s original goal was to create candle scents tailored to men. Thus far, there are 17 varieties to choose from, including a smoky Leather, a rich Cassis, and a dewy Gardenia, all named by numbers. The portable tins are great for travel, while the larger jars make an ideal holiday gift, with a generous burn time of 40 to 45 hours.
