Daryl Kerrigan is an Irish born fashion designer based in New York who pioneered the downtown aesthetic garnering her the title, Indie queen of downtown cool. It was 1986 when she moved to NYC, taking jobs sorting second hand clothes for thrift-shop dealers and working in wardrobe for independent films before launching her line and alter ego, Daryl K. In 1991, with about $40,000 in savings, she opened her first store on 6th street in the East Village which quickly became a top draw for customers like Kim Gordon and Camilla Nickerson. Her influence spread like wildfire after she designed the perfect pair of low rise jeans resulting in a now classic rock 'n' roll look. Today her downtown style prevails infusing streetwise with elegance. Trousers & leggings are a mainstay in her collections which offer a full range of dresses, tops, jackets, and boots.
