the makaha drowner short

by M.NII

M.Nii shorts have been worn by big wave riders of Makaha, Hawaii since becoming a staple in the surf community during the 50′s and 60′s. M.Nii Makaha shorts were born out of a “mom and pop” tailor shop that saw a need for comfortable and reliable swim shorts built with surfers in mind. Made from a simple twill, the shorts may have started a move toward durable built trunks. During the time, surfers would go to the M. Nii’s shop and have custom shorts outfitted for them. While the custom shop may be long gone, surfers and fans alike may still enjoy the original M.Nii Makaha short as worn more than a half century ago.
